The philosophical foundations of west- ern democracy, i.e. the absolute right of the individual to decide his own values, the alleged sovereignty of man, we reject absolutely. Muslims first of all accept Allah their Lawgiver; beyond that they enjoy a limited freedom to run the affairs of state in the light of those values, by means of consultation.
