Suggestions like these can be considered only on the presumption that poly- gamy is inherently an evil and that if it cannot be abolished altogether, it must be checked by legal restrictions. This is the view of Roman Law, not of the Islamic Law. Hence it is fundamentally erroneous to drag in such propo- sals which militate against the basic concepts of Islam while matters are being discussed in the light of Islamic Juris- prudence.
